Can you really change your body in a month?

I received an email from an old friend at the weekend, to say she’d seen me promote my Best Body Bootcamp on my Facebook page and was interested in signing up. But she asked at the end of her email “Can you really change your body in a month?”

best body programAs many of you will know, I’m not an advocate of quick fixes or cheating your way to a good body. I’m not a fan of taking supplements and vitamins, drinking protein shakes or doing five day juice detoxes and certainly not taking any kind of diet or slimming pills. We just don’t need them and so much of what is out there is not good for us. It can affect the balance in our bodies and biochemistry, it is often toxic, giving us short term results but long term issues and, as you might have guessed it’s a billion pound industry with a very high profit margin. Most of these companies are run by chemists and entrepreneurs, who know full well that with the right marketing campaign and the promise of a better body, women will be hooked. Hooked on the idea that these products will give them the body they want with little or no effort on their part.

When I replied to my friend I said ‘ Of course you can, but whilst I make the 28 days a lot of fun, there are no cheats on my Best Body Bootcamp. You get out what you put in.’

This is true in all areas of our lives, yet for some reason, women just don’t want to hear that, particularly when it comes to health, weight, food and fitness. Women still won’t invest in themselves or their health in the right way, they waste money left, right and centre trying to avoid the things that they know they should do and is good for them, because they can’t be bothered or are in fact brain-washed by these conglomerates who are not interested in their health one bit.

I had a Facebook message from another friend saying, ‘I really want to do it but I can’t afford it, I’ve just paid £80 for a month’s worth of Lighter Life meals and snacks, are you doing it again? I might do it in the spring’. You can imagine at this point, my coffee got spat out across my desk and I started typing furiously back to her, ‘Please stop, don’t do this, do the Best Body Bootcamp, it will not only change your body but will change your life!’ More cheating, more money down the drain, still no results. It actually makes me want to cry sometimes!

I got into another conversation with an overweight mum I know yesterday, about how she really wanted to do it too, but said she was really busy (she’s a stay at home mum of three school age children). She has a husband and doesn’t work and says she has no time. I tried to be polite (because as a single parent of twins, who works full time I can’t imagine how anyone who doesn’t work, has kids in school all day and a husband morning and evening to help with the kids could possibly say she doesn’t have time!) and said, ‘Do you want to lose weight and be healthier?’ She said yes. I said, ‘Then you can find the time if you really want to! We spoke about ways she could be more efficient at home in the day, how a one hour workout is only 4% of her whole day AND that on the Best Body Bootcamp, it’s only 4. 5 hours of training the entire week (three hours of cardio and 1.5 hours of conditioning over seven days) that is completely flexible. We talked about how she actually needed to believe she could change her body too. Because one thing that women often don’t do is actually BELIEVE they can nail their food and fitness, which means they’ve set themselves up for failure before they’ve even begun. AND why they then look at the quick fixes and cheats! This woman also had some self-esteem and insecurity issues, was a bit fed up of her life I think. So I told her that in fact the most useful part of the BB bootcamp was likely to be the daily motivation and mindset audios.

So back to the title of my blog… Can you change your body in a month? YES YOU CAN! And I make it super fun too!

1. But you need to be prepared to put in some ground work
2. You must prioritise some time for your training sessions
3. It’s essential to show up and follow through
4. Believe you can do it
5. Get excited!
